Electrician

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Qualified Electrician to join our dynamic team at the feedlot. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our electrical systems and equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience (plus overtime)

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician (Red Seal Certificate)
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience as an Artisan
• Willingness to work standby and overtime as required
• Physically fit, with the ability to work in awkward positions, cluttered workspaces, and noisy environments
• Experience with Centre Pivots (advantageous)
• Wireman’s license (advantageous)
• Fluent in both English and Afrikaans (spoken, read, and written)
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
• Must be willing to relocate to Christiana at your own expense

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain circuit boards and electronic equipment across the feedlot.
• Perform routine maintenance on all electrical equipment and machinery.
• Manage time effectively to complete scheduled daily jobs.
• Prepare necessary tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the day ahead.
• Respond to requests for electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades in accordance with preventative maintenance plans.
• Conduct investigations and accurately diagnose system or equipment faults.
• Troubleshoot issues and complete efficient repairs based on identified faults.
• Set up wiring and electrical systems to exact specifications and industry standards.
• Test newly installed electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and to locate any shorts or breaks.
• Inspect and audit electrical supplies, machinery, and systems to mitigate risks and verify component safety and compatibility.
• Install conduits and run electrical wiring to feed switches, circuit breaker panels, and relays.
• Keep management informed by providing regular updates on the status of repairs and installations, as well as any operational challenges.
