Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Cape Town

We are recruiting a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for an international renewable energy company specialising in the development and delivery of solar PV and battery energy storage projects. Active across both emerging and established markets with a strong presence in Africa, the business operates across the full project lifecycle, from development and financing through to construction and operations.

The company manages a growing portfolio of solar and energy storage projects that support the transition to cleaner, more reliable power across the regions in which it operates.

Your duties will include:

• Electrical and mechanical design and specification
• Management of engineering deliverables
• Low and medium voltage design and specification
• Regulatory compliance management
• SAT and FAT compliance oversight
• CAD and SCADA design and specification
• Electrical protection specification and coordination
• Support for tenders and proposals
• Earthing system design and specification
• Adherence to company ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 processes

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professionally registered or actively working towards registration
• 5+ years of experience in the design and delivery of solar PV and energy storage projects
• 4+ years of work experience with SCADA systems
• 4+ years of work experience with HOMER software
• Strong multi-skilled professional with exceptional attention to detail
• Superb numerical and analytical skills
• Fluent spoken and written English proficiency
• Capability to produce high-level reporting
• Familiarity with international IEC standards is advantageous
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVSyst, and DIgSILENT
• Medium voltage and protection coordination experience
• Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment
