Automation Technician Intern

A well-established and dynamic company is seeking a motivated Automation Technician Intern to join their growing team. Based in Ficksburg, this role will play a vital part in supporting critical operations across the Free State and Lesotho regions.

Requirements

• Relevant Trade Certificate, National Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of PLC programming platforms (such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Delta, Omron, or similar).
• A solid understanding of electrical control systems and industrial instrumentation.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
• A valid driver's licence and access to reliable own transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist engineering teams with PLC programming, system troubleshooting, and software modifications.
• Support the seamless installation, integration, and commissioning of advanced automation systems.
• Perform electrical wiring, functional testing, and routine maintenance of PLC-controlled equipment.
• Assist in rapid and effective fault finding across complex electrical and automation systems.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs, technical records, and programming documentation.
• Actively participate in scheduled preventative maintenance and site continuous improvement projects.
