Role and Responsibilities

• Design code conversion platforms to migrate applications from COBOL or PL1 to Java
• Review architecture and system design to improve overall efficiency
• Understand mainframe legacy databases and programming solutions
• Collaborate closely with Proof of Concept (POC) suppliers
• Modify and adjust architectural guidelines, target design principles, and solution spaces based on POC results
• Structure appropriate feature teams within the context of a migration factory approach
• Review and present proposed changes to Product Owners
• Develop system solutions in strict alignment with quality and delivery standards
• Actively participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and updating live production environments
• Manage system integration to and from external systems, system testing, parallel runs, and final implementation
• Conduct system audits and ensure robust quality assurance
• Drive the vision of the Feature Team in alignment with Team Leads and Sub-Product Owners to achieve key results
• Ensure that Incident Management (IM), Change Management (CM), and Problem Management (PM) tickets adhere to quality standards and SLAs
• Provide second-level support during incidents by analyzing system logs and resource utilization to identify problematic areas
• Identify, document, and evaluate mainframe applications and data sets targeted for migration
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans
• Ensure compliance with company regulations and data protection standards throughout the migration lifecycle
• Work with infrastructure teams to map mainframe components to equivalent cloud services
• Develop comprehensive strategies and robust testing plans for migrating data and validating cloud applications while ensuring minimal disruption
• Create detailed technical documentation, including step-by-step procedures, configurations, settings, and customizations
• Implement cloud security best practices, including data encryption, access controls, and compliance monitoring
• Develop training materials and conduct knowledge transfer sessions for IT staff to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing operational readiness
• Establish clear communication plans to keep stakeholders and project teams regularly updated
• Implement post-migration monitoring tools to track application performance, continuously optimize cloud infrastructure for cost and performance, and conduct lessons-learned sessions

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant IT, Business, or Engineering Degree
• 10+ years of experience working with relevant programming languages
• Strong expertise in on-premise virtualization technologies
• Demonstrated experience in manual or automated testing
• Web and digital project experience is highly advantageous
• At least one of the following certifications:
  • Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II) via scrum.org
