Senior Data Scientist

Location: South Africa | Remote (South African Citizens Only)
Travel: Occasional travel to Johannesburg or Cape Town

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Data Scientist to join our remote team in South Africa. In this role, you will lead technical delivery, mentor talented team members, and drive the end-to-end lifecycle of advanced machine learning models within a modern cloud ecosystem.

Key Requirements

• 7+ years of experience across Data Science, Data Analytics, or Data Warehousing
• Strong, recent experience in Data Science and Machine Learning
• Advanced proficiency in Python, Jupyter, pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn
• Proven production experience in deploying, monitoring, and retraining ML models
• Hands-on experience with Delta Lake and Lakehouse architectures, PySpark, feature stores, and training-data versioning
• Strong expertise in Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, T-SQL, and/or ANSI SQL
• Proficiency in Power BI and Python-based data visualisation and analytics
• 2+ years of experience in a technical or engineering leadership capacity
• Demonstrated experience mentoring Data Scientists and owning technical delivery
• Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent professional experience
