IT Technician

A well-established local IT services and solutions client is looking for an IT Technician to join their dynamic team in Paarl, Western Cape.

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on IT Support Technician to deliver reliable remote and on-site technical support. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, manage networks (specifically UniFi and Ubiquiti), support Windows environments, and administer Microsoft 365. No degree is required — practical skills, relevant certifications, and a strong customer-service mindset matter most.

Responsibilities

• Provide first and second-line computer troubleshooting for hardware, software, peripherals, printers, and mobile devices.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot UniFi and Ubiquiti networking hardware, including access points, switches, gateways, and controllers.
• Support and maintain Windows 11 workstations and Windows Server environments.
• Administer Microsoft 365, managing user accounts, licenses, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and basic Entra ID security settings.
• Perform essential networking tasks such as IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, basic routing and switching, wireless optimization, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Log, prioritize, and resolve support tickets with clear updates and escalation when necessary.
• Assist with on-site installations, cabling, hardware deployments, and client visits in the Paarl area.
• Contribute to proactive maintenance, backups, system patching, and documentation.
• Deliver clear communication and professional guidance to clients both face-to-face and remotely.

Requirements

• Strong practical experience in computer troubleshooting, networking, and Windows environments.
• Hands-on experience working with UniFi and Ubiquiti hardware.
• Solid knowledge of Windows 11 and Windows Server administration.
• Demonstrated experience in Microsoft 365 administration.
• CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ certifications, or equivalent IT-relevant qualifications.
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport, as on-site client work is required.
• Excellent communication skills, a customer-focused attitude, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently or within a small team.

Advantageous

• Additional IT certifications from Microsoft, Ubiquiti, or similar recognized vendors.
• Experience with VoIP, fibre optics, CCTV systems, or basic cloud services.
• Previous managed service provider (MSP) or local SME IT support experience.
• Afrikaans and English bilingualism, which is common and highly useful in the Winelands region.
