Development Project Manager

The primary function of the Development Project Manager (DPM) is to lead a software development team, managing performance, behavior, productivity, and team delivery through the application of Scrum and Agile methodologies. In this client-facing role, the DPM provides feedback, updates, and comprehensive reports to both internal and external clients regarding project status.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery Management: Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope through effective backlog grooming, sprint planning, accurate estimations, and burndown reports.
• Capacity Planning: Ensure teams meet capacity plans by maintaining at least 70% efficiency of raw capacity for each sprint.
• Quality Assurance: Drive high-quality deliverables by ensuring User Acceptance Testing (UAT) failure rates remain below 5% for every UAT deployment.
• Client and Stakeholder Management: Deliver progress reports and present team deliverable statuses using sprint burndown reports during weekly operations meetings.
• Client Relations: Manage client expectations, resolve client escalations, and provide regular updates within agreed-upon timeframes.
• Team Management: Oversee performance management by setting individual employee goals and conducting regular performance evaluations.
• Productivity Tracking: Monitor team productivity and oversee accurate time logging.

Core Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in capacity and sprint planning
• Extensive experience with task-tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Strong grasp of Scrum principles (tracking, capacity planning, efficiency planning, and ceremonies) and SAFe framework
• Ability to thrive and perform under pressure
• Highly proactive approach to problem-solving and task execution
• Exceptional customer relationship management skills
• Understanding of coding languages and software development principles
• Strong conflict management and resolution abilities

Minimum Requirements

• Matric qualification
• Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a team
• Minimum of 3 years of experience within a software development environment
• Relevant IT-related qualification
• Demonstrated experience working with Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Retail industry experience is considered a strong advantage
• A proven track record of successful project delivery
