Finance Manager

AltGen is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial management of renewable energy projects during the construction phase, transitioning from Financial Close through to COD, for a leading renewable energy company based in Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monthly management reporting throughout construction, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, the role will manage lender requirements under relevant financing agreements and fulfill reporting obligations outlined in the Construction Management Agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in bringing projects to Financial Close while establishing robust systems and processes for accurate construction reporting.
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, ranging from general ledger reconciliations to comprehensive reporting, including analytical reviews and commentary.
• Manage project bank accounts and coordinate funding requirements from lenders and shareholders.
• Administer loan facilities in strict alignment with agreement terms and provide timely reports to relevant stakeholders.
• Drive cash flow forecasting and reporting, including project budget revisions, variance monitoring, and actionable financial insights.
• Coordinate the annual audit, prepare IFRS-compliant Annual Financial Statements, and handle other mandatory annual reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and uphold corporate financial policies.
• Ensure full statutory compliance, including Income Tax, VAT, and CIPC requirements.
• Partner closely with the Senior Contracts Manager and Programme Manager to guarantee accurate project-level reporting.
• Master the accounting aspects of existing project agreements and their respective reporting obligations.
• Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of all financial data and reporting deliverables.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure the finance function is seamlessly integrated into all business areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional designation (CA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Hands-on experience administering drawdowns and milestone payments for renewable energy projects during the construction phase.
