Our Pretoria-based client is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to join their dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a hands-on leader with a background in the fuel or retail industry to oversee branch operations, lead high-performing teams, and contribute to the continued success of a growing business.
Job Purpose
To manage the day-to-day operations of a primary fuel station while providing operational support and oversight to two additional branches as required. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, staff performance, financial control, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service across all assigned sites.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Experience: 2 to 8 years of relevant management experience
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proficiency in stock control and inventory management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Solid administrative and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
- Additional Requirements:
- Fluent in both Afrikaans and English
- Valid driver's license and reliable own transport
Key Performance Areas
- Branch Operations:
- Manage the daily operations of the primary fuel station efficiently
- Provide operational support and weekend oversight to two additional branches as required
- Ensure strict adherence to company standards and operating procedures
- Monitor branch performance and implement strategic operational improvements
- Staff Management:
- Lead, coach, and develop branch personnel to achieve peak performance
- Monitor employee output, manage staff rosters, and oversee attendance
- Ensure full compliance with internal employment policies and procedures
- Stock & Financial Management:
- Oversee stock ordering, inventory control, and routine stock takes
- Manage cash-ups and comprehensive month-end procedures
- Oversee debtors, creditors, and daily financial administration
- Monitor financial performance and drive operational profitability
- Customer Service:
- Uphold and drive exceptional customer service standards
- Resolve customer complaints and on-site operational issues promptly
- Maintain a welcoming, professional, and customer-focused retail environment
- Compliance & Health & Safety:
- Ensure strict compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies
- Conduct regular site inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary
- Oversee compliance processes and maintain adherence to relevant regulations
