Tax Specialist

Salary: R600 000 - R700 000 CTC per annum

A leading JSE-listed organisation is seeking a detail-oriented Tax & Compliance Officer to join its dynamic Group Finance team. Key Responsibilities

• Tax & SARS Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT201, ITR14, and IRP6 returns across multiple entities; perform monthly VAT, income tax, and dividends tax reconciliations; manage the group's tax compliance calendar and statutory deadlines; liaise with SARS regarding queries, verifications, and audits; and work closely with external tax advisers on tax matters and estimates.
• REIT & JSE Compliance: Monitor compliance with REIT requirements, including Section 25BB of the Income Tax Act; support compliance with JSE Listings Requirements and continuing obligations; coordinate documentation relating to share issuances, scrip dividends, share cancellations, and buy-backs; assist with regulatory declarations and JSE-related submissions; and prepare and coordinate relevant SENS disclosures.
• Debt & Treasury Compliance: Monitor compliance with debt listing requirements and lender covenants; prepare periodic covenant compliance certificates; review and monitor financial covenants under banking facilities; coordinate bond registrations, cancellations, and releases; assist with bondholder consent processes and municipal guarantees; maintain lender-related insurance certificates and compliance records; and prepare relevant SARB, Stats SA, and Commercial Paper reporting.
• CIPC & Corporate Compliance: Prepare and submit CIPC annual returns; maintain statutory records across group entities; assist with company registrations, amendments, and deregistrations; and support SARS/CIPC integration requirements and public officer appointments.
• Dividends & General Compliance: Prepare draft dividend resolutions for board approval; coordinate dividend declarations, dividends tax calculations, and SARS submissions; maintain comprehensive statutory filing and compliance registers; monitor changes to tax legislation and Companies Act requirements; and support senior finance leadership with regulatory and compliance matters.

What We Are Looking For

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• At least 3 years of experience in a tax or compliance-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of the Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and Companies Act.
• Practical experience with SARS eFiling and CIPC e-services.
• Experience within a listed company, REIT, or professional services environment would be advantageous.
• Exposure to Section 25BB / REIT taxation is beneficial.
• Knowledge of JSE Listings Requirements and share-related processes is preferred.
• Exposure to debt covenants, facility agreements, or DMTN programmes would be advantageous.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
