Investment Accountant

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Salary: Market Related

We are currently seeking an experienced Investment Support Officer or Investment Accountant to join the dynamic Operations function of a well-established financial services firm.

This critical back-office role supports client teams across the business, ensuring the accurate, consistent, and high-quality execution of investment-related transactions, reconciliations, and accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture non-automated investment transactions on internal database systems
• Maintain detailed, line-by-line investment reporting and accounting records
• Process accounting and journal entries relating to conversions, capital calls, and distributions
• Reconcile investment positions and thoroughly investigate any reconciliation breaks
• Set up securities and pricing for both quoted and unquoted investments
• Perform Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations for Private Equity investments
• Ensure all investment instructions and accounting activities are completed accurately and within required deadlines
• Liaise effectively with internal teams, financial institutions, asset managers, and external service providers

What We’re Looking For

• A relevant degree or higher diploma
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience within the financial services or investment industry
• Strong working knowledge of investment accounting principles
• A sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Proven experience with multi-currency accounting
• Strong background in reconciliations and investment transaction processing
• Advanced attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure
• Strong proficiency in Excel and general financial systems
• Experience or knowledge of offshore trusts and companies, including the relationships between trusts, companies, trustees, and beneficiaries (advantageous)
• A STEP qualification (beneficial, but not essential)
