An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished senior finance executive to join a leading, complex financial services organization in a pivotal Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position.

This role combines strategic finance leadership with significant responsibility for Group financial reporting, technical accounting, financial governance, internal controls, and overall reporting integrity. The successful candidate will have built strong technical foundations in IFRS and financial reporting, while successfully progressing into a broader executive finance leadership role. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable interrogating complex financial data and operating strategically with senior executives and Board-level stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior financial leadership and oversight across a complex Group environment.
  • Oversee Group financial reporting, consolidation, technical accounting, and statutory reporting.
  • Provide expert leadership across IFRS governance, accounting policies, financial controls, and reporting integrity.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and credibility of all financial information delivered to senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Manage executive and Board-level financial reporting and deliver insightful supporting analysis.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify emerging trends and risks, challenge forecasts, and provide meaningful commercial insights.
  • Maintain robust financial governance, control frameworks, and reporting disciplines.
  • Oversee critical areas including capital reporting, balance sheet management, and financial control.
  • Partner effectively with senior executives, finance leaders, external auditors, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing specialist finance team.
  • Strengthen technical reporting capabilities and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of finance processes.
  • Contribute to strategic financial decision-making and shape the broader direction of the finance function.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a CA(SA) and/or a relevant senior professional finance qualification.
  • Brings approximately 10 to 15+ years of progressive finance, accounting, and financial reporting experience.
  • Demonstrates significant experience operating in a senior financial leadership capacity.
  • Possesses a deep technical understanding of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
  • Has strong expertise across Group reporting, consolidation, statutory reporting, financial controls, and governance.
  • Financial services experience is strongly preferred, particularly within insurance, investments, asset management, or banking.
  • Experience within a large, listed, or similarly complex corporate environment is highly advantageous.
  • Exhibits strong executive presence with the ability to engage, advise, and influence at the senior leadership and Board level.
  • Exposure to financial services regulatory reporting is considered a strong advantage.
  • Combines exceptional technical credibility with strategic thinking and sound commercial judgment.
